About the Company

Founded in 2007 by visionary Melanie Smith, FLAVA Dance Company was created to give aspiring dancers access to advanced training, meaningful stage experiences, and guidance toward professional careers in dance.

FLAVA emphasizes the importance of discipline, commitment, and a deep appreciation for the arts. Many alumni have gone on to pursue higher education in dance and the arts, embodying the values learned through their time in the company.

Participation Requirements

Auditions & Training:

• Dancers are not required to audition for membership but must audition for placement in specific competition and performance pieces.

• A minimum of one year of prior training in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz is required.

Class Commitments:
All company dancers must be enrolled in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop classes at Dancin’ Jazzi to ensure a well-rounded dance education.

Time Commitment:
Being part of FLAVA Dance Company is a year-long commitment that requires dedication and passion. Dancers are expected to fully invest in their artistic growth and their role in the company’s legacy of excellence.
